We Value the Bible 2 Thessalonians 3:16-17, Isaiah 40:8, Deuteronomy 6:6-9, Psalm 119:105, II Timothy 2:15, 4:2, Psalm 19:7-9 We value the Bible as God’s Word to us. As we submit ourselves to the Bible and to God’s Holy Spirit who enlightens and applies His Word, we will experience life transformation. Because we believe the Bible is truth and speaks truth into our lives, we will place God’s Word at the centre of our ministry at Arnold Community Church. In our preaching and teaching to children, to youth, and to adults, we will ensure that the Bible is the foundation confident that it will change lives, lead us to holiness, and transform our community. We Value People Genesis 1:27, John 3:16, 15:12, Matthew 22:39, 25:31-46, I John 4:21, 4:11, Luke 10:25-37, Galatians 6:10, Acts 6:1-7, Psalm 139 Every person is created in the image of God and therefore is valuable. As God created humankind in his image and gave His Son Jesus Christ to die for humankind, while imperfect, we also desire to love and care for people. In our ministry to others, we will ensure that people are a priority by cultivating relationships, encouraging community, and responding to the spiritual, relational, emotional, and physical needs of others. We Value Service 2 Thessalonians 3:6-13, I Corinthians 12:1-31, Ephesians 2:19-22, I Peter 2:9, Mark 10:45, Matthew 25:31-46, Galatians 6:10 The Bible reminds us that Jesus Christ did not come to be served but to serve. Because we desire to follow His example, we emphasize that the Body of Christ in all its varied parts have a role to play in advancing the Kingdom of God. We will model servant leadership in all we do knowing that in doing so, we imitate Christ. While we value gift based ministry believing that generally, people are passionate about God’s gifting in their life, we encourage and empower people to serve the Kingdom of God believing that God will honour and bless any service done in Jesus’ name. Your time, talent, and treasure are necessary and valuable gifts to the Kingdom of God. As a part of the Body of Christ, we expect that you will serve through the ministry of Arnold Community Church. We Value Christ-like Leadership Ephesians 4:11-13, 5:1, Mark 10:35-45, I Timothy 3:1-13, Hebrews 13:7, 17, I Corinthians 11:1 We believe that the church, while imperfect in this world, is the vehicle which God has chosen to display and dispense His grace to the world. Therefore, it is imperative that the local church be led by those with spiritual gifts of leadership who are characterized as those who follow closely after Jesus and have demonstrated a life of humility, service, and passion for the local church. Furthermore, it is expected that every ministry of Arnold Community Church be led by those who demonstrate Christ-likeness in all they do. We Value Children and Youth Psalm 127:3-5, Proverbs 22:6, Deuteronomy 6:6-9, Luke 17:2, Matthew 19:13-15, Colossians 3:21, Ephesians 6:1-3 Children are a gift and a blessing from the Lord. Thus, we have a responsibility to raise our children in a church environment that demonstrates love for them, bestows value upon them, demonstrates encouragement to them, and teaches and models God’s love for them. Our children and youth are our immediate mission field and guiding them into a relationship with Jesus Christ is our primary responsibility. Therefore, we will develop our ministry and facilities so that our value for children and youth are clearly evidenced. We Value Doing Our Very Best for God Exodus 35:4-39:43, Colossians 3:17, Exodus 23:16, 19, Malachi 3:6-12 We believe that God is worthy of our very best and therefore pursuing our very best in ministry honours God and inspires people. Our very best elevates the One who has gifted and called us, it inspires others in their relationship with God, it motivates and mobilizes others for ministry, and it instills confidence in those who are responsible for giving leadership to the local church. Within the local church, whatever ministry role in which we serve, we do it in the best way we can for the sake of honouring and elevating Jesus Christ and advancing the Kingdom of God. We Value Prayer as a Central Part of Our Ministry Deuteronomy 4:7, 2 Chronicles 7:14, Psalm 32:6, Matthew 6:6-13, Mathew 14:23, Romans 8:26-27, Ephesians 6:18, I Thessalonians 5:17, James 5:13, Acts 4:31, Proverbs 15:29, Philippians 4:6, Colossians 4:2 We believe in the power of prayer and are committed to growing in being a people of prayer. We believe that the Holy Spirit guides and directs us in our prayer cultivating and encouraging our relationship with our Heavenly Father. Because prayer changes lives, it is the foundation for all forms of ministry and is central to the church’s effectiveness. Through teaching about prayer but more importantly modeling prayer by refocusing its centrality to our ministry, our church family is striving toward making prayer more central to the life of this congregation both personally and corporately. Practicing the spiritual discipline of prayer will transform both our personal and corporate church life. We are a “Missional” Church Matthew 28:18-20, Mark 16:15-20, Luke 24:36-53, John 21:15-17, Acts 1:8, Matthew 5:1-7:29, John 3:16-21 The Bible reminds us that God sent Jesus Christ, His son, to provide salvation for the world. In teaching His disciples, Jesus shared the story of God’s love and taught them how a follower of Christ is to live empowering them to share the story of God’s love through the testimony of a changed life. Our church family aspires to grow in our passion for the lost becoming more aware and more intentional both locally and globally about our responsibility given to us by Christ.
